Marcel Bois studied history, sociology and art history at the Universities of Konstanz and Hamburg. He received his doctorate at the TU Berlin on the history of communism in the Weimar Republic. He is currently working on a postdoctoral project on the biography of the Austrian architect Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky, which is sponsored by the Gerda Henkel Foundation. The historian is a lecturer at the Ruhr University Bochum and an associate scholar at the Research Centre for Contemporary History in Hamburg.
