Mariko Takagi

Author

Mariko Takagi is a typographer, an author and designer of books and an educator. She acts as an intermediary between the Western and Japanese cultures in general – and between Latin letters and Japanese and Chinese characters in particular. Takagi works as an Associate Professor and researcher at Doshisha Women’s College of Liberal Arts in Kyoto. Her current research project is based on a collaboration with Mies van der Rohe Haus in Berlin and focuses on Michiko Yamawaki, the first female Japanese Bauhaus student.
