Leigh Anne Roach is an art historian whose research interests include the history of design pedagogy and the intersection of structuralism and twentieth-century design. She has taught at Florida State University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. This article is adapted from two chapters of “A Positive, Popular Art: Sources, Structure, and Impact of Gyorgy Kepes’s Language of Vision” (Ph.D diss., Florida State University, 2010).
